We just had an election, what changes would you really like to see in your town, township, or school district? It would be interesting to see how many people really do want input as to how to fix/save Toulon. They had so much to say about the election but nothing to say about how to fix the problems that the city is facing. If you speak. people will listen, they may not always do it just the way you want it done, but at least you gave constructive input. We have a wealth of good people here with years of experience behind them and we also have a wonderful group of people that will have to fill the shoes of leaders in years to come. It is your town, this is your forum, and this is a great place to post your ideas. Please post them no matter what area they may cover. From idea's come plans from plans come change from change comes growth. Long live Toulon.

Not attempting to be provoking or anything, But I go to a great many of the council meetings and I do not really hear that there are many problems.
Now that does not mean that there aren't any, just that I do not hear of many being put forth or discussed in council meetings.
If people first compiled what they percieved to be "issues in need of correcting" that they hold in common, it would then be much easier to look for viable solutions.
Just a suggestion.

It would be nice to get back to subject of this discussion. We have yet to see any suggestions as to what the fine citizens of Toulon see as the to issues that need to be addressed.

Hay all you wonderful citizens .... why not start another Discussion on this board where you can say hat ever you want that is not related to this board that was set up to find suggestions/ ideas as to what needs to be done for Stark County and or it's cities. Just maybe will all can learn something from them. I for one am looking for those ideas not the ramblings of a few.

Hay Toulon Res....where does this thread state it's just about Toulon or Stark County...it is still a free country, I think...this Blog goes out to the world in cyberspace...so my last post does help the county, schools and towns...because without the majority in all the government, nothing will get accomplished..that's why we are in such a mess.

We just had an election, what changes would you really like to see in your town, township, or school district? O.K......I will state a few things I would like to see changed..... Town's: 1. Better Roads, Sidewalks, Alleys, Curbing in all towns. 2. More penalties to homeowners not keeping their trash, junk and abandoned cars out of their front yards. 3. No tax increase to the homeowners that fix up their original homes, like siding, paint, windows, doors, roofs and patios. 4. Burn Days for landscape waste only. Township's: 1. Fix township roads for all, not just the road commissioner's friend's. School's: 1. Do away with the early out on the last Wednesday of the month for the Teacher's Workshop. 2. Shorten Easter Vacation with those used snow days and get out the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. 3. Instead of having a Deputy patroling the Wyoming Bank crosswalk in the mornings, have one at Toulon Casey's corner in the afternoons. 4. Have a school guard watch the back door in the mornings at the Grade School and one in the front and back at the Junior High. 5. Now that we have 8 periods all schools should dismiss at the same times. 6. Only have 2 board members on the committees, no need to post meetings or take minutes. That's it for now...Hope this Helps the "guess" that started this thread.

I would like to see recess put back in the curriculum at the K-5 building. I'm wondering why it is that social time and play time is now not important. I realize that they are at school to get an education but don't you think that social maturization is also an important part of learning. I don't know too many 5-10 year old children that can sit still and quiet all day without some running and screaming free time. And I don't mean a break in the classroom or organized play in P.E., I mean running and screaming, letting off steam FREE time to whatever they want.

My children currently attend the Stark County Elementary School and they DO receive recess, every day. The only time my children have ever said they did not receive a recess is when the weather did not permit it or the behavior of students in the cafeteria was poor (recess immediately follows lunch). I'm not sure why you think there is no recess.

I live by our SC Elementary School and I see and hear the kids all the time on the playground. When you hear them yell, scream you know they are having fun. Does my heart good to hear them.... knowing they are enjoying their young lives and are being watched by playground supervisors in a fenced in area. I see them on the trail with their Teachers and some classes were out on Earth Day picking up trash around town. That's all I can help you with on this subject,but....My hat goes off to the Teachers and Staff!!! They have to be the most patient people in the World. Bless You All and Thank-you.

My bad. I guess that 10 minutes after lunch (when it doen't rain or snow) is great. The teachers I have come in contact with have said that the morning and afternoon break we all used to get when we went to school is no longer taken. I just know what my children have said so if your children are getting more than 10 minutes a day then more power to them. We as adults get more break time than that.

let's first start off with this first, I to live by the SC Elementary School Since when did unruly kids get to decide what all the good kids get to do and decide if they get a recess after lunch and be punished for something the weren't involved in? As for recesses in the mornings and afternoon I hear kids out there at both times, as for being in a fenced in area they are not always I've seen them in front of the school playing on the grass As for having a Deputy patrolling any place is because of PARENTS And High School STUDENTS driving to the schools in the mornings and the afternoons disregarding the laws in Illinois about SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMITS they have there children and who cares about the kids that live in town and walk home. The Sheriff department and Local Police need to crack down on speeders and law breakers in school areas and make unconcerned parents, Bus drivers and Teachers accountable for there actions school zone laws are from 7am to 4 pm Makes me wonder why? So many parents pick their kids up from school and waste their gas when the school district has buses that tax dollars pay for ? Could it be because parents DO NOT trust Bus drivers to transport their kids to and from home? ?? And when the issues were brought in front of the SC Superintendent his response was if you don't like how we operate then drive your kids to school yourself

I Care,
Regarding your bussing comments, I send my children EVERY day to school by bus and they come home EVERY day on the bus. I have no issues with my children's bus driver. She is a very capable, caring, conscientious driver who cares about kids and strives to do a great job. My kids really like her too, which is a bonus!

The things I'd like to see changed in our little community... Lets see-
How about the attitude towards our neighbors, school, our children. Our local buisnesses, and parks. We need to all get involved with our city. Our children, sometimes are our best teachers, we as adults, during our high speed lives, forgotten everything we taught our children.
We need to get the empty buildings, that once were buisnessnes filled again. We need the support of all people, not just a few.
Let's get more people in Stark County, not just Toulon. It's a great place to live, and rasie a family. We need a better polital platform, and supporters, rather than the dictator who was newly elected. We need to work together to help bring down the cost of the deficet we have, not make it larger. The change, is way less than what people think. We has no "I" in it. Our community is "US", yes-WE

The people need to change, this causes the town to change. We need to establish our towns, county, and school district! We need our people to stand beside each other, instead of going at each other! Have pride in our neighbors, churches, buisness's, schools, and our children. We all walk this green earth, what's left of it. We need to do it together. Look at the countries that are having war tearing them apart, how much longer before it reaches our own home areas? Greed, hate, discrimination, and plain ignorance-will be our own ruin! Change in people! Not just in Toulon, but everywhere! Not just Stark County...every county. County lines butt up against each other, they are also our neighbor. ...just a thought!
