My thinking is. For those that do not have a issue with the cats. would you alow your baby to crawl in your front yard knowing that a cat just pooped in it? Well if you would, then we will send all the cats to you.Im sick of them. The woman next door lets her kids roll around on the ground her house smells awful. Yes she does feed them and i can count at least 12 cats that she feeds 4 are pregnant . Every one needs to go to the town meeting and raise a stink. We pay taxes on our property.

Very happy to hear u have no children. You don't sound like you need them. You must not have a issue with cats pissing on your stuff. Another thing before you start calling our kids BRATS. Those brats might be saving your life 1 day or loved ones. We all were brats at a young age. By the way i pay taxes also. My taxes might be paying for your home , your food ect. So put a lid on it. Im all for a cat law in this town. Maybe i need to have a visit with the new mayor. If nothing is done, we will have no choice but to take care of ourself.

I think, if you are cruel to the cats, you are just as bad who have abandoned them. I do not believe that people who have kindness and love for animals that they feed them should not be penalized by fines as "the owner"! Just plain wrong, and those who think all of that crap is ok-is just as bad as concern! There are other humane ways of doing things, with out being cruel to animals. All they want and need are food, affection, and companionship!

I agree you don't have to be cruel. I have animals my self.BUT i take full ownership and take care of there needs. My dogs are walked on a leash, if they poop i pick it up.They are fixed so no over population, they don't damage property nor do they smell. This has nothing to do with being cruel, if the people took the money that they were spending buying food for them and get just 1 fixed it woul help. Personally everyone of us is waisting our time dealing with the cat issues. Because you will have those that don't care about the smell,or letting there little ones play in the sandbox that a cat just pooped in.

Yes, and we all know this has been going on forever, all over the country. I remember my parents having to deal with the same thing during the mid 50's...so we always had our sandbox covered, even if it never happened, we just expected it would, if we never covered them. Besides, if it isn't the cats using it as a litterbox, it was the rabbits, and squirrels, and of course, the blasted birds!! Doesn't matter, what animals they are, where they came from. I have a neighbor who probably spends about $200 every two weeks, taking strays to the vet for check ups & medicine alone, not counting the 100 lbs of cat food every month he buys...of course it isn't just cats he feeds either. The stray dogs, and the squirrels, who love dog food too.
My mother, always had a rug at the door, and EVERY time we entered the house, even after I had grown, and was an adult, living at my own house, we had to take our shoes off. And if we were dirty, we took a bath, or shower. So if we smelled...well, there was no guessing it-a bath! We cleaned our shoes off, if we stepped on anything. People sometimes like to write on here and write some of the silliest things I have ever seen, and then spread cruel, and hateful words. Just think, if we were all to have the same feelings on children that were dumped and abandoned, and lived like wild animals because no one would help them out...we would be murderers then!
Oh well!

Too Bad if you don't like paying for kids then MOVE and remember that when you were a (brat) kid some one paid for your little rear to go to school and i agree that " The world needs to have more unconditional love, the kind of love that you get from a pet " But people that don't want these cats tearing up their property should have a right to just like the smoking ban and every other law the cities, counties, states, and country has passed

I agree there are more humane ways to take care of this problem , BUT if the town leaders don't rectify this issue then its up to the citizens to take the matter in their own hands to fix the problem As for needing love and attention you must have never walked up on a "WILD abandoned cat" and have it try to attack you and then not no if it has rabies or some other disease

This issue seams to come up every so many years. Cats are a whole different issue thatn dogs. Not too many times does a cat attack or bite someone out of the blue like some dogs do. As for a program, who is going to pay for this program if one is developed. A salary has to be paid for someone to catch all of these cats, vets don't fix them for free, and county animal control does not have the resources or the facilities to house these animals. Shelters only have so much room also. Programs take money and manpower. Is anyone out there willing to donate time and money for this program or should our taxes or water rates increase to cover this service. I for one cannot afford any more increases. The next hard winter will take care of some of the problem. I know that sounds cruel but it is the natural way of things.

no it's not the natural way of things..cats are domesticated. they are not wild creatures and those that don't care for theirs responsibly should be fined. In the meantime, we have an animal control officer that should be called to deal with the problem of strays, that is if he is available. I have called a few times for a beautiful black lab, friendly, in my yard and was told he would call in 2-4 hours. Seriously, do you think that dog was going to stay in my yard for 2-4 hours??

Again I say it is a very expensive proposition. The animal control officer is only part time. The county is broke. They don't have the resources or the facillities to house these animals. Until or when they become a serious health threat I don't think much of anything can be done. I'm sure that if someone would be willing to donate some money for proper kennels, food, vet care, and transportation to animal shelters it would be greatly appreciated by the county but until then nature will be the next best humane solution.

all i know is that these people must not care a whole lot about their animals if they are willing to let them run free when there are people out there threating to kill them

The problem is that there are more cats needing our care than we can take into the house. We would be the crazy cat people if we did that. Some of us cannot provide basic vet care either. At most, some can only provide food and some sort of shelter. I breaks our hearts, but without options, I don't see a fix for this problem. It is not the fault of the cats! People need to figure this out.

The family that lives next door allows the strays to live and breed in her garage. So every fall and winter we see around 14 or new kittens running around. she also has at least 12 in here house.
