Stark County High School junior, Tanner Ewing, has qualified for the state finals in the 300 meter hurdles. He placed 1st in the prelims on Thursday at the IHSA state track meet at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.
Think good thoughts and keep him in your prayers as he competes in the finals today at 3pm.
Congratulations Tanner!!

We are trying to arrange an escort for him when he gets back to town. It will probably be after 8pm. I'll post here when we know a more accurate time.

Tanner Ewing will be coming through Wyoming and then through Toulon with a police and rescue escort at about 7:15pm this evening. Please come out and show your support!
Decorate or make a sign if you live along this route!

Just thought I would post and let everyone know, that Tanner, his mother, and his older brother were overcome by the reception they received when they got back to Stark County last night. Thank you to the fire departments, and sheriffs office for the escort. Thank you to Sam Rice and Jerry Staple who made sure the Lion's Club board displayed a congratulations message for Tanner. Thank you to everyone who came out of their homes to wish them well!
Once again, we see Stark County at it's best!

It is weird. When Sam returned from fighting the communists in Viet Nam...no fire trucks, ambulances, sirens, and receptions. When Jerry came back from fighting the communists in Korea...no fire trucks, ambulances, sirens, and receptions. Well then, that is even more reason for me to be very grateful to these two gentlemen, for taking the time to congratulate and honor Tanner. It's wonderful to see that these two fine men are not bitter about any wrongs that may have been done to them, and that they are able to be positive and giving to our youth and to our community. Thanks again to Jerry and Sam! You are wonderful examples for all of us and especially the youth of this community!
