CSC Offers New Cisco Network Certificates, Basic Network Security
Galesburg—Carl Sandburg College will be offering two new Cisco networking certificates as well as a new basic network security certificate beginning this fall.
The Cisco Network Associate certificate is designed to provide students with technical skills needed to become a network support specialist. This course of study also provides the student with the practical knowledge to successfully take the CCNA certification test. This certificate can be added to the Computer Information Systems Specialist Associate Degree or the Computer Networking Specialist Associate Degree.
The Basic Network Security certificate is designed to provide students with practical techniques for protecting the security of an organization’s information assets and resources. Security issues, technologies, and recommended practices are addressed. This certificate can be added to the Computer Information Systems Specialist Associate Degree or the Computer Networking Specialist Associate Degree.
The Cisco Network Professional certificate is an advanced certificate designed to provide students with technical skills needed to become a network administrator professional and provides the student with the practical knowledge to successfully take the CCNP certification test. This certificate can be added to the Computer Information Systems Specialist Associate Degree or the Computer Networking Specialist Associate Degree. This certificate is for those who already have their CCNA Certification or have taken the four CCNA courses offered in the Cisco Network Associate Certificate.
Employment is expected to increase by 18% for computer support specialists and systems administrators through 2016 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Cisco Learning Institute predicts a 60,000-person shortfall between the supply of networking talent and the market demand for highly skilled information technology (IT) workers in the workforce today.
Fall classes start August 24. Financial assistance and scholarships are available. For more information call (309) 341-5299.
