What Is New on the Henry-Stark Extension Website
If you haven’t visited the University of Illinois Henry-Stark Extension website located at: henrystark.extension.edu find out what you have been missing 24/7, no password or registration required.
The kids are out of school and for many it means that you are thinking about attending or participating in the Henry County Fair in June, Stark County Fair in July, or the Illinois State Fair in August. If this fits your family you will find direct links to each Fair Book including schedules for the Henry and Stark County 4-H Fairs as well as the Jr. and open Fair Books for the Illinois State Fair.
For anyone with a home yard and garden interest we have recently added a link to the U of I Extension Weekly growing season newsletter as well as a vegetable grower’s site. Here gardeners can learn everything from insect control to storage of specific vegetables. Home Yard and Gardeners will also enjoy reading U of I Extension Horticulture Educator, Sandy Mason’s homeowner articles updated weekly in the right-hand column. Sandy brings a practical backyard flavor with proven control and management practices integrated into her advice columns.
We have added two farm management websites to assist producers and agriculture landowners with their farm management decisions and tasks now that the planting season is (hopefully) on the downhill side. The first website answers a question that many ask, but few can answer, “What is the average cash rent in the county?” The second website is a direct link to the U of I Extension custom rates for field and forage operation information.
A tip to those like me, who can’t seem to type in web addresses correctly, just go to your favorite search engine like Google and type in “University of Illinois Extension Henry-Stark” and the first one on the list of choices will most likely be our home page. Once you find us, bookmark us for future reference and check back weekly for updated information. As always if you have questions or comments, don’t hesitate to contact the Extension office at: 309-853-1533 or e-mail: jwest@illinois.edu.
