Goodwill Learning Center Holding Open House
Galesburg, IL – May 29, 2009 – The public is invited to stop in on Wednesday, June 17 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Goodwill Learning Center to hear about the new programs and meet the new team for employment assistance and computer training. The Center is located at 1931 Grand Avenue. Refreshments will be served. For further information, call the Center at 309-342-1055.
According to Bill Bontemps, Goodwill’s Director of Vocational Services, “We want to make certain people know that anyone who has recently lost his or her job can come to us for assistance. One of the barriers to employment is having the right skills to match an employer’s needs. Often, someone who has held a job position for many years may know how to use a computer, but not to the degree required by a new employer. We can teach you those skills. The first thing is to call us and schedule a time to talk to us.”
Jo Wullschleger, Employment Developer, helps individuals prepare for and research job opportunities. She has extensive experience as an advocate and liaison for individuals with disabilities. Jennifer Bunde, Computer Trainer, holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and teaches numerous Microsoft applications. Theresa Swanson is the new Administrative Assistant. The Learning Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois is a non-profit organization that serves more than 18 counties throughout central Illinois. Revenues earned from the sale of donated goods provide the resources for the agency’s free career, job training, and life strengthening classes. Brochures with detailed information on how to register for classes, as well as dates and times are available upon request or visit www.goodwillpeo.org.
