If the mayor and the board are not going to take care of this problem then i think we need to go ahead and let dogs run free to there are some people on here that want to be humane and spare the cats then dogs should have the equal rights to run free to because they are just as equal as cats
i guarantee if this was a dog issue the mayor and the board would be putting in place an ordnance faster then you could turn your head to take care of this problem

:DWhat we need is the Egg Roll stand back....I remember when we used to have Spoon River Days downtown and it seemed that the cat population declined during that weekend!!! :-) haha
If you are so 'disgusted' by the cat over population, then do something about it, instead of sitting on this board complaining. Go out and catch them, turn them in!! Use some common sense when posting, letting dogs run loose would pose a threat, the cats are just annoying.

Not a cat problem, it's a human problem. Now other people are having to deal with it. But, it can be dealt with humanely and with respect to all, including the cat. Letting dogs run wild and free, is just ridiculous. A dog, can and will revert to instinct of survival if not fed, and will be a threat. Cats, may kill birds, attempt to get a squirrel, and crap in your yard, but will not attack, and kill and eat children. There are humane traps, that will not harm the cats. Trap them, and call the Animal Control Officer, or take them in.

why not let them run free and you can still feed them and they will kill all the cats then there will not be a cat problem then when all cats are gone you can put them back on their leashes like they should be and last time i heard the animal control officer DOES NOT TAKE CATS because they have NO place to put them How about gunny sacs and the spoon river

They let you roam around, and go into heat, then we can toss you, and your "litter" in the spoon river too! What's fair for one is fair for the other! Oh, I am having a tough time feeding my dog, can I take one of your off-spring to feed her? You think being funny about this makes you tough? You are as much an idiot as concern...maybe, you are concern!42

Another Jeffry Dahmer I see... If that is what it takes to make you tough, you have a sad life, and will have even a tougher time when it comes time to meet the maker. Remember, they are God's creatures, and we are not suppose to be cruel to them. People like you should be fixed, sou YOU do not have off spring, either to spread your evil to them and infect the world, or have them be murdered by your hands, because you want to be tough and make stupid comments! I hope, one day, you will get caught for doing such cruel, inhumane, and illegal acts such as that! The fine by the way, in the State of Illinois, if you are caught, is $1000.00, and you plead guilty. If you plead innocent, and then are found guilty, it is even more, plus jail time! What an idiot!

The only thing a beagle is good for is it tastes like chicken! Worst dog in the million plus breeds! Well, besides a golden...worthless. Can't even call them a pet.

Just a reminder to all animal owners...I am a property owner and forbids trespassing on my property, so if any animal is on my property doing damage I will put a pellet in it's behind...so keep your babies at home.
After reading this weeks paper and seeing where the Stark County Animal Control asked the Toulon City Council for a pay hike of $150. a month, but asked Wyoming City Council for $350. a month. WHAT'S WITH THAT?

Correction on Stark County Animal Control Services,
Toulon had been paying between $50.00- $100.00 a month asking for a hike of $250.00 a month...tabled??
Wyoming paid $150.00-$300.00 a month willing to pay $300.00 on a month to month bases.

After reading this weeks paper and seeing where the Stark County Animal Control asked the Toulon City Council for a pay hike of $150. a month, but asked Wyoming City Council for $350. a month. WHAT'S WITH THAT? [/quote] First off, I am not MCG. I am not a nurse, nor, am I a lady... And yes, I do prefer animals over humans. Humans are rude, violent, self centered, and think themselves are better than God's first creations. I would die for an animal, but not for a human. Well, for your kind, anyway. As far as my spelling goes-I have never once boasted that my spelling or grammar are up to par. But I also read somewhere that God is the only perfect one, and I do not believe God has yet experienced the cyber world. So, "those who live in glass houses must not cast the first stone"...I do not think you are so perfect. You are still breathing God's air, and walking his earth, you are not dead awaiting judgment day...you "ain't" perfect. Cat cop....hmmm, that would allow me to fine, or imprison anyone caught being in-humane to a cat??? Or shoot the person beating, or "putting a pellet in their behinds"? Maybe I should, I would volunteer my hours, and not collect pay. I even have my own guns. I have two .45 caliber M-1912A's just sitting in their cases just waiting to be used...they have been retired since 1957. Next time, know who you are accusing of writing such things...concern. Always trying to figure out who someone is. Why do you need to know? I mentioned Dahmer, because that is how he got his start into being another evil person that did not deserve to live on this earth. His place is Hell, and that is where he is now, and will be called to stand before God, on judgment day. I unlike you, cannot wait for this day, and will welcome it, for the torture of living in a world with people like you is way more than I can stand. This is my registered name, not MCG's. And, I wrote it not under an assumed name but the one I registered with the paper. So go smoke that! Oh, and you are still an idiot! And I will pray for your soul.

Lets look for a ways to combat the problem.... here is just one that can be found on the web. Take the time to look for programs that may work for your city or county. www.djtfoundation.org/1.htmThe DJ&T Foundation Bob Barker and FedericoOne of the most serious problems impacting animals is overpopulation. There are so many dogs being born every day, throughout the United States, that there are just not enough homes for all of them. This results in the destruction and mistreatment of thousands of animals. Bob Barker, well-known television personality, established the DJ&T Foundation in 1995. The Foundation's goal is to fund low cost spay/neuter clinics and voucher programs as a way to help relieve animal over population. Barker, who ends every "Price is Right" show with an appeal to viewers to spay or neuter their pets, felt compelled to do more to address the problem. The Foundation has funded clinics and voucher programs across the country to help animal lovers do their part in controling animal over population. While its mission is to assist all qualified organizations, the Foundation is most committed to making grants at the grassroots level to deserving organizations that provide low cost or free spay/neuter services or voucher programs. The DJ&T Foundation Board of Directors examines each qualified application carefully to be sure that a real need exists and that the organization provides excellent services in an efficient, responsible and humane manner. Grant applications may be downloaded from this web site, after prospective applicants review the site’s "Frequently Asked Questions" section, or by addressing an application request to: The DJ&T Foundation 200 North Larchmont Boulevard, # 3 Los Angeles, CA 90004 (323) 465-9955 No correspondence to Mr. Barker or The Price Is Right should be addressed to the Foundation. Please direct this correspondence to CBS, 7800 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036. The DJ&T Foundation is named in fond memory of Bob’s wife, Dorothy Jo, and his mother, Matilda (Tilly) Valandra, both of whom loved all animals. He endowed the Foundation so that it can go on funding projects indefinitely.
